Beishan: 5,000 Statues on a Cliff
Started in the late Tang and finished in the Song: five hundred metres of niches cut in a crescent along the cliff face, 7 m high, hive-like in rows — Guanyin in every mood.
北山摩崖造像始刻于唐末至南宋，以大佛湾为中心共五处，长达500多米、岩高约7米，沿崖造像龛窟如蜂房，造像5000余尊。
Baodingshan: the Great Mandala
The Song-dynasty masterpiece: the Wheel of Rebirth, the Great Treasure Pavilion, the Huayan triad and the gilded Thousand-Hand Guanyin with 1,007 hands — Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism sharing one cliff.

The Rock-Carving Museum
A purpose-built museum over all five grotto clusters — Beishan, Baodingshan, Shimen, Nanshan and more — 614 sets of holdings, 40 minutes of context for what you just climbed through (closed Mondays).
